Hi Carla, your reflections on travelling light resonated with me today. Partner and I are heading off on Saturday, jumping in a camper van and just driving. As we have started packing I have deliberately made an effort to remove 'things'from the pile, understanding that paring back on belongings is also part of peeling away what we view as necessary and contemplating just being for a time. We have talked about how we are 'leaving' things behind and just going to enjoy time with each other and the beautiful space we live in. It has made me think a lot about the attachment we have to 'things', to opinions, thoughts, habits, process. Your thoughts have inspired me, thank you.

Thank you Carla for sending me your writings about your recent community involvment. Obviously all went well. What pleases me even more is that I think I operate the same way. I plan, plan and plan then whatever happens is it!! Dealing with the communities makes life so much more interesting, at times! frustrating too, but a difference that we dont get in the usual training/information sessions.

Happiness always Carla

Thanks Geoff, I like that you can see how it applies to your own work as a facilitator; and also teaching others. You are closer geographically to where Evolve is working than I. :-)

Carla,
I love what you have written here. Much of your post resonates strongly. It is great to hear about your comfort with the coexistence of seemingly contrary concepts. In case you or your readers are interested, I have written about your post here: http://howtobeafacilitator.blogspot.com/2011/10/celebrating-difference-some-notes-on.html

By the way, great video. I am sure the session will be provocative.

Thanks Michelle I really enjoyed your thoughts. You hit on a crucial point here, the need for self care and to nurture oneself to be able to give to others from a place of fullness. Everyone has their own way, for me I also find yoga and meditation a critical part of that and essential to my own health. I am a much better person for it, and my family is happier. When you said that you didn't have a special place easily accessible, and that you find a nice space in your yoga class, it reminded me of something that my Yoga teacher said to me some 20 odd years ago. I had been mountaineering and at that stage was wondering whether I could pursue this more seriously, for example a big mountain in the Himalayas. My teacher, Advaita, said to me "yes you could do this, or you could stay here and explore the mountains and terrain of your mind. What would be more challenging for you?" I'll let you guess the answer Michelle :-)

Carla I had a tear in my eye as I read your thoughts on 'love' and 'power' - I have been contemplating the same Martin Luther King quote. I don't have a place to go right now that offers the wonderful clarity you have shown but I have been delving in to the same notions in my yoga class! It has revealed another 'exquisite tension' between the courage required to open ourselves to love others and the wisdom to nourish and love ourselves. For me there are so many parallels with my work in facilitation as I seek to work with integrity and openness with each group to support and enable them to claim their own wisdom and power - whilst remembering to take care of myself. Very funny that dancing is a great way to re-energise for me!
Thank you and take care - Michelle
